Continuing a work that started 40 years ago.

I have been in the Medical Research Profession and Academia for over 40 years. 14 hour days on the bench are not unusual and the kind of dedication it takes in order to make a difference.
The budgets for medical research have been cut dramatically in the last 20 years. The need hasn’t dissipated only the means to accomplish it. Much of medical research has gone to private industry. The goals of this research is geared towards the bottom line.
I have seen that the results of research can spur investigation into innovative and unconventional problem solving. Medical Research with an eye to results and the opportunity to explore it is our goal and the reason for creating InventaCure.

"Something needs to be done. This can help."

In 2015, my Mother passed away from complications from diabetes. On the occasions when I would drop her off and pick her up for her dialysis treatment I would meet many of her fellow patients. Many of them had gone blind or had extremities amputated. She would have dialysis 3 times a week which took 4 to 5 hours. It would take her the next day before she felt like herself but then she would have to return the next day for another treatment. She was strong and resilient but towards then end it was very taxing on her and my family. I am a Type 2 diabetic but have it well under control. It is a constant battle. My sons have adjusted their diets restricting the amount of carbs they take in. We actively exercise and I frequently monitor my glucose levels. We have come a long way in treating diabetes. More can still be done.

"I'm a Mom on a mission."

While in their teens both of my sons were treated for depression. Alarmingly, the medications prescribed for my sons were for adults and not adolescents. It was always hit or miss in diagnosing the right medication as well as the proper dosage. We went thru a lot of trial and error which was not only expensive but also frustrating because it seemed like nothing was really working. We were fortunate to find a psychiatrist that worked with adolescents, which is a rarity. Our psychiatrist said, “I can treat the brain but I can’t necessarily fix the mind”. I am doing this so other mothers won’t have to face the sorrow of their children hurting themselves or others. We may not be able to fix the mind but we can at least discover a better class of medications to treat mental illness.
